Event Details
Dr. Robin Judd, whose grandmother survived the Holocaust and married an American soldier after liberation, introduces us to the Jewish women who lived through genocide and went on to wed American, Canadian and British military personnel after WWII. Facing the harrowing task of rebuilding a life in the wake of the Holocaust, many Jewish survivors, community and religious leaders, and Allied soldiers viewed marriage between Jewish women and military personnel as a way to move forward after unspeakable loss.
Dr. Judd is an Associate Professor of History at The Ohio State University and the author of Between Two Worlds: Jewish War Brides After the Holocaust. She is President of the Association for Jewish Studies and also serves on the State of Ohio's Commission for Holocaust and Genocide Education and Memorialization.
This event supports the exhibit Anne Frank: A History for Today, on display at LCL's Downtown Newark location from November 11 - December 14. The exhibit is generously funded by the Licking County Foundation.
