Program Description

Event Details

Austin Reid brings to life fascinating stories from Newark's Jewish history. Since 2017, Austin, a native of Lancaster, has been passionately exploring the stories of Ohio's smaller and vanished Jewish communities. His research often uncovers the rich and unexplored histories of these communities.

Austin's journey into Ohio's lesser-known Jewish histories began as a capstone project through the history department at Capital University and has since blossomed into a dedicated passion project. His extensive research is available through the Columbus Jewish Historical Society and the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland. Additionally, he has collaborated with organizations such as the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums, the American Jewish Archives at Hebrew Union College, and the Southeast Ohio History Center to preserve and share these regional histories.

This event supports the exhibit "Anne Frank: A History for Today" on display at LCL's Downtown Newark location from November 11 - December 14. The exhibit is generously funded by the Licking County Foundation.
