Event Details
More than 100 years ago, Americans came together to march, protest and organize boycotts against the fashion craze of feather hats, which nearly drove several species of birds to extinction. Learn the story of how people fought and won passage of the International Migratory Bird Treaty Act – one of the oldest and most important wildlife protection laws on the books – from Ohio Wildlife Center conservation liaison, Rebecca Rose.
Rebecca Rose brings a lifelong fascination with all things wild and 30 years of experience in environmental education and international conservation to these dynamic sessions. She Earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management. She is also an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist through Ohio State University.
This free program is part of our lifelong learning series, Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner, and, in part, by Licking County Senior Levy. Donations are appreciated.
