Dr. Larry Baum explores how the meaning of Title IX has evolved through interpretations by the executive branch. He reviews that process by looking at some Title IX issues that the Department of Education and its predecessor have addressed over time. Professor Baum earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and has taught in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University since 1973. His primary interest is in U.S. courts. His courses on the courts include civil liberties, women and the law, and an honors seminar on Supreme Court decision making. He has received OSU's Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Teaching and Mentoring Award of the Law and Courts section of the American Political Science Association. He is the author of The Supreme Court (14th Edition).
This free program is part of our lifelong learning series, Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner, and, in part, by Licking County Senior Levy. Donations are appreciated.
