Event Details

Art historian and artist Sean Crum discusses the art movement known as Surrealism. Originating with French literary figures such as Baudelaire and Breton, the Surrealism movement was formed in the years after WWI and focused on the concept of "automatism," the practice of creating art without conscious control. Artists such as Max Ernst, Salvador Dali, and Rene Magritte explored irrational imagery and the exploitation of chance effects to create representations of dreams that often look like nightmares.

This free, virtual program is part of our lifelong learning series Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner and, in part, by the Licking County Senior Levy. Donations are appreciated.
