Program Description

Event Details

Van Young offers Part 2 in a 4-part lecture series on pioneer life in America: "Riding on the Oregon Trail." Once under way, what was life like on a wagon train? What were the dangers, challenges, and obstacles? How long did it take and how did they cross all those mountains, rivers, and dustbowls? What did the women have to endure? Disease, accidents, and weather caused many hardships and deaths. Learn how perseverance and determination pushed people to the ultimate limits. Van Young is the President of the Worthington Griswold Center History Study Group and a member of several Civil War Roundtable discussion groups.

This free program is part of our lifelong learning series, Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner, and, in part, by Licking County Senior Levy. Donations are appreciated.
