Program Description

Event Details

At the age of 67, Ohio native Emma "Grandma" Gatewood became the first woman to solo thru-hike the entire Appalachian Trail in one season. In 1955, she told her family she was "going for a hike." Little did they know that hike would entail the entire 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail. Filmmakers from Eden Valley Enterprises present a screening and in-depth discussion of their Emmy-nominated documentary, Trail Magic: The Grandma Gatewood Story.

This free program is part of our lifelong learning series, Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner, and, in part, by Licking County Senior Levy. Donations are appreciated.
