Program Description

Event Details

Dr. Shiri Noy discusses her research project, "Kindness During COVID-19: Science, Religion, and Uncertainty," a project exploring how kindness prevailed despite uncertainty for so many during the pandemic. Her work seeks to examine how science and faith are mobilized and how views of kindness, in particular compassion and helping, are viewed in the context of the pandemic.

Dr. Noy is Associate Professor of Sociology at Denison University. Her research spans the areas of political, development and cultural sociology, focused on topics ranging from public perspectives on science and religion to health policy in Latin America. You can find out more about her research on her website. She earned her PhD from Indiana University. Her new book, Project Management for Researchers: A Practical, Stress-Free Guide to Getting Organized, was published in November 2024.

This free program is part of our lifelong learning series, Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner, and, in part, by Licking County Senior Levy. Donations are appreciated.
