Program Description

Event Details

Dr. Chris Farrar, lifelong learning instructor, examines the geopolitical realities that led up to the conquest of Judah and the disastrous foreign policy decisions on the part of Judah that made it inevitable. He also compares the historical and archaeological evidence with that from the Bible itself and look at individuals in the biblical account whose existence and roles can be confirmed through archaeology. Chris Farrar holds a doctorate in Linguistics from the Ohio State University. He has been a student of biblical archaeology for 50 years. With this research background, he has turned his attention since 2018 to writing historical fiction. In 2020 he published his first novel, By the Waters of Babylon, set in the time of the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem. In 2022, he published the sequel, Light of Exile, set two generations later during the fall of the Babylonian Empire. He lectures frequently on biblical archaeology to interested communities throughout the United States. Books are available for purchase and signing at the time of the program.
